In the same spirit as the Krautrocksampler Julian Cope published a book on 70s Japanese heavy/psychedelic/free etc. rock music. I find his writing totally grating, his opinions often wrong, and he also has a knack for getting facts wrong when he isn't just making them up. On the other hand, he does talk about some interesting music. Anyone else interested in this music would be advised to check this link out:
